SOME missed opportunities and good goalkeeping left Wessex Premier Division leaders Poole Town with just a 1-1 draw to show for their efforts at Hamble.
After a goalless first half, prolific youngster Steve Smith got Dolphins off to a flyer in the second period with a 46th-minute opener.
But Hamble made Tom Killick's side pay for their poor finishing with an equaliser.
"We're a bit disappointed with the result," admitted Poole first team coach Steve Cuss.
"With the number of chances we created we probably should've won the game.
"Particularly in the first half we were guilty of missing a few and their goalkeeper made two good saves in each half."
Cuss insisted there would be no panicking from his side, despite the dropped points and the fact that rivals Wimborne Town have hit top form and started to eat into their lead in recent weeks.
"It's not a time to panic at all," he said.
"It's a point gained but we're disappointed it wasn't three."
Poole Town: Frampton, Whitley, Skelton, I Richardson, Sturgess (Funnell), S Richardson (Cannie), Culliford, T Smith, Cann, Brown, S Smith. Unused subs: Yelland, Reeves, Cuss.
