CHERRIES new boy Jem Karacan is hoping to be at the centre of a family feud when he steps into the Lions Den.

The 18-year-old yesterday put the finishing touches to his move from Reading when he joined Cherries on a month's loan.

And he looks set to go straight into the firing line by taking his bow at Millwall - where he could run the risk of upsetting his Uncle Dean.

"He's a season ticket holder at the Den," laughed the confident youngster. "We've already had a bit of banter and I would love to put one over him!

"I was born in Catford and Millwall is pretty close to home so it would be great to make my debut there. A few of my family support them but my uncle is a big fan.

"I know it's an intimidating place but that doesn't really bother me.

It's going to be hostile but that's all the better really because I would rather have the atmosphere."

Karacan, a Turkish under-19 international, says he is also looking forward to lending a hand to Cherries' bid to climb the League One table.

He added: "I heard Bournemouth were interested a few weeks ago and have been following their results ever since.

"If I can come here and play a part in helping them pull clear of the bottom of the league then that would be great. I'm willing to live with the pressure.

"I don't think we should be where we are so the only way is up. The first thing we need to do is get a positive result at Millwall."

An industrious central midfielder, Karacan has progressed through the ranks at Reading and captained the Royals to Premier Reserve League glory last season.

Yet to feature for the first team, he signed his first professional contract at the Madejski in the summer and admitted he jumped at the chance of a loan move to Dean Court.

"I know players like Jermain Defoe have made a name for themselves here so it's going to be good to get some experience under my belt," he said.

"One of the coaches at Reading mentioned that Bournemouth were interested after a recent reserve game. But I went away with Turkey under-19s to Bulgaria and thought the deal was off.

"I came back on Tuesday and had a call telling me they were still keen. I said 'yes' immediately and can't wait to get started now."

Cherries boss Kevin Bond said: "He's a grafter in the middle of the park. He's a busy and energetic player with a terrific attitude.

"Myself, Rob and Eddie have all seen him play for Reading reserves and he caught the eye. He works hard in central midfield and hopefully he will help us.

"He will come straight into the reckoning for the Millwall game and we are looking forward to having him on board."
