JO KUFFOUR faces a race against time to regain his match fitness ahead of Cherries' relegation showdown at Millwall tomorrow.

The 26-year-old Londoner yesterday trained with his team-mates for the first time this week after being laid low with a virus.

Kuffour bravely played through the flu-like symptoms against Swansea on Sunday before being confined to his sick bed.

And although he managed to raise himself for a light session at Canford School yesterday, boss Kevin Bond is far from hopeful over his availability.

Speaking after training, Bond said: "Jo certainly isn't 100 per cent. You could visibly see the effects of the virus and it has taken its toll.

"We will have to monitor him and see whether he's up to speed, although perhaps it looks unlikely at the moment."

Bond will also make a late decision on striker Sam Vokes who only returned from international duty with Wales under-21s in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 17-year-old grabbed his third goal in four appearances for his country to help Wales secure a 3-1 victory over Malta at the Racecourse Ground on Wednesday.

Bond said: "He got back at 3am and although he trained, he could barely put one foot in front of the other. We asked him to get involved but it was extremely difficult considering the night he'd had."

Defender Josh Gowling is in contention for a recall after coming through a reserve outing in midweek, although the clash could come too soon for Russ Perrett.
