BOURNEMOUTH coach David Dunn believes it won't be long before they notch up their first win of the season following a 30-19 home defeat against Old Patesians.

James Flynn scored a 22nd-minute try to give Lions the lead and he crossed the line again in the second period.

Tim Gray also touched down for Bournemouth with Joe Aiono adding two conversions.

But Old Patesians came out on top with tries from Rob Nock, James Stickland, Matt Hurdle and James Pettigrew.

Nock added two conversions and two penalties.

Dunn, whose side suffered the sixth successive league loss of their South West Division One campaign following promotion, said: "It was a very encouraging performance and the backs played extremely well.

"The difference between the two teams was down to the bulk in the tight five.

"Old Patesians were bigger than us and they played a rolling maul game.

"That proved to be the difference between because they scored three tries from moving mauls.

"But when we moved the ball wide we looked very dangerous as shown by two tries from James.

"We lost by 11 points but missed out on another try just on the bounce of the ball."

Dunn added: "We're very close (to recording our first win) and it is frustrating because we are so close.

"The referees and opposition regularly say to us after the games they can't believe we are bottom of the league.

"The players are superb. Their attitude is superb and their heads are not dropping.

"They are coming back and improving each week and it is only a matter of time before we turn it around."
