GARY Graves stepped into the breach because of injury and impressed as Swans beat High Wycombe 15-3 at home to keep their unbeaten league run going.

He came in at scrum half in place of injured Michael McKeown for his first game of the season and helped the Bestwall boys make it six wins in a row in South West Division Two East.

Centre Joe Grove and number eight Maurice Elford scored first half tries for Swans, who led 12-3 at the break.

Phil Graves slotted over two penalites, with Wycombe's Toby Radford replying with one of his own.

Swans captain Robert Elford, whose second-placed side only trail leaders Chippenham on inferior for and against points difference, said: "Gary had a great game at nine.

"For someone with his experience and ability, it is great he can step in when we get an injury.

"It's a brilliant position for us to be in, and from one to 15, and the substitutes who came on, everyone played well."

Robert added: "High Wycombe had only conceded 40 points in five previous games and had the best defensive record in the division, so we they would be tough to break down.

"We had the majority of possession, particularly in the second half, and I suppose we were slightly disappointed we didn't score a few more points.

"But it is another win and we take each game as it comes, although we would probably have taken that result before the game.

"It's only after the match that you think maybe a few more opportunities slipped away from us and perhaps we could have won by more."
