FORMER Sunshine Challenge champion Julian Hamilton-Taylor was back among the prizes at the Knights of the Road charity day.

The two-times Daily Echo match play winner joined up with Ben Ludwell and Jamie Kinvig to form the American Golf team.

The intrepid trio carded 87 points in the better ball competition (best two scores on each hole) at Queens Park.

Hamilton-Taylor and Kinvig both play off five handicaps while Ludwell is a two handicapper.

Among the prizes for the winners was a round of golf with lunch at the acclaimed Remedy Oak course near Horton.

Approximately £3,500 was raised for local children with special needs from this year's popular event.

Local bookmakers Stan James put up a £1,000 prize for a hole-in-one at the penultimate hole which was kindly donated to charity after no-one achieved an ace on the 17th.

The society was set up in 1983 by Bournemouth and Christ-church taxi drivers and has rais-ed more than £100,000 for charity.

Members were also competing for their Presidents Cup which was originally donated by their first president Max Bygraves.

Current captain Brian Etherton took the honours after amassing an impressive total of 42 Stableford points.
