RINGWOOD boss Jy Taylor has refuted claims that one of his players broke Bemerton captain Nathan Renyard's leg on purpose in their game earlier this month.

In The Pink on Saturday, Harlequins' chairman Steve Slade alleged that after a "horrendous late challenge", a "Ringwood lad" told Renyard: "That's your leg broken then," and ran off.

Slade added: "It was shocking. He could have started a riot coming out with a comment like that.

"Both the linesman and the referee missed the tackle.

"After remonstrations from our dugout, the ref went over and had a word with the lad, but he wasn't even yellow carded.

"Everyone was incensed with the challenge, but there's nothing we can do."

But Taylor, who missed the goalless draw at Ringwood on October 20 because he was in Belgium on business, said: "I heard about it and they are talking about James Finlay.

"I have 100 per cent faith in him. He wouldn't go in to hurt anyone.

"I will back him all the way. Challenges like that inadvertently happen week-in, week-out even though they are not pre-meditated.

"If someone gets injured, that is the last thing anyone wants, but we are not out to make enemies in our league.

"I don't think any of our players would have done that intentionally whatsoever."

Taylor, meanwhile, was less than impressed with his side after they stumbled to defeat against Lymington, with Paul Traies grabbing a 60th-minute winner.

Ringwood's boss said: "In all honesty, if we play like we did in the second half we will go down.

"It was very disappointing. I will end up with a divorce if we continue to play like that because I was in such a bad mood on Saturday night."

Ringwood goalkeeper Russell Goodman, hindered by a foot injury, pulled up in the warm up suffering dizziness and was replaced by centre half Mark Burrett between the sticks.

Ringwood: Burrett, Godwin (Leadbitter 80), Brunnen, Russon, Greaves, Finlay, Gogan (Sajic 50), Wright, Bellott (Chilcott 75), Carroll, Foster.
