SCOTT Joyce bagged a hat-trick to take over at the top of the individual Premier Division hit list as Wimborne moved to within five points of leaders Poole Town.

Kevin James grabbed a brace and Paul Roast notched one before Joyce got three in a row to complete the riot.

Joyce was the Premier top gun last season.

And his latest treble increased his tally this term to 19 league goals, propelling him above Steve Smith's 17-goal tally for the Dolphins at the same time.

Magpies manager Christer Warren, whose side led 4-0 at the break, had gone into the game with a crippling injury list.

But he said: "It was the perfect result because not many teams will go to Horndean and get a result on a difficult pitch like that.

"We played some outstanding stuff as well. It all came from our work rate.

"I asked for a response from our 1-1 draw with New Milton on Tuesday and it was our best performance of the season so far.

"Right from the start, once we engaged someone we just didn't let them turn. We were just all over them.

"All over the park there was someone in their face all the time.

"If we can add that to our game, with the quality we have got, we will be hard to play against.

"That's a style of play we haven't got, so I was over the moon about it."

Wimborne are five points behind Poole with two games in hand, and Warren said: "We are in a good position.

"But like I said before it is always nice to have those points in the bag rather than games in hand.

"I'm not worried about what Poole do. I have enough to worry about how to make sure my own team perform and hope we will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

"With the amount of injuries we have got, we have six out and five are defenders, we are putting a side together and the boys are doing well so I'm pleased at the moment."
