JAMES Croker felt his Oakmeadians side produced their finest display of the year in hammering Corsham 46-14.
After watching Oaks run in six tries to Corsham's one, Croker said he thought his team were "starting to come together".
He said: "It was the best rugby we've played all year.
"We've now got a spine to the team. The hooker, number eight, nine, 10 and 15 positions are pretty settled. Having that spine, for me, is vital."
Croker hailed Tim Flower, Rory Thompson and Giles Saynor as "massive players" for Oaks, while also paying tribute to young fly-half Jamie Tryska.
"He's been in and out of the first team squad. He dropped to the seconds for the last three weeks, deserved his call-up and took the opportunity. I'm pleased with him," said Croker.
The squad could be further boosted as Croker expects to recruit a prop on loan from National Division One outfit London Welsh.
It was a much-improved display by Oaks on Saturday, as Ryan Stephenson led the way with a brace of tries either side of half-time.
Oakmeadians: Collins, Kurewaka, Notobartolo, R Stephenson, Tait, Tryska, Harman, Garrett, Saynor, M Stephenson (Riley), W Croker, Raileanu, Flower, Thompson, Hennings (J Croker).
- Also in Southern Counties South, league leaders Trowbridge thumped Wimborne 37-0.
E'S PERFECTION
ELLINGHAM and Ringwood kept their 100 per cent record in Hampshire Division One by beating Farnborough 21-15 at a windy Picket Post.
Flanker Rob Saltrick created a converted try from nothing before the visitors got on the scoresheet to trail just 7-5 at half-time. Andy Weeks struck three brilliant penalties in a strong swirling wind to increase the lead before full-back Josh Beavis rounded off the scoring with his seventh try in the past three games.
- East Dorset bounced back from last week's horror show at Ellingham with a great display of running rugby to defeat Fareham Heathens 32-5. The tries came from Jamie Ramsey, Will Brooks, Karl Bumstead and Mike Rose.
East Dorset: Skirrow, Williams, Stapleton, Bumstead, Scammell, Dean, Bradley, Horrex, Pietersen, Rose, Brooks, Ward, Wheatley, Phillips, Ramsey. Subs: Wall, Robinson.
- Two tries apiece from Jonathon Hooper and Richard Miller helped North Dorset to a comfortable 34-0 Southern Counties South victory over Devizes. Mike Green and James Dimmack also crossed to complete the rout.
North Dorset Under-16s hammered Wimborne 43-5 after an inspirational performance from captain Toby East.
