BJARNE Pedersen has stressed his delight that next year's Speedway World Cup looks set to climax at Vojens in Denmark.

Pirates' captain was part of Denmark's team that clinched the title for the first time in nine years at Reading in 2006.

And he believes hosting the last two meetings of the 2008 competition gives his country a "great chance" to win it again.

There is still some uncertainty over whether Vojens will definitely be the venue for the race-off and final on July 17 and 19, respectively.

The FIM have Vojens down as the venue, while the SWC organisers appear to have left an option open to stage both meetings in Britain.

But Pedersen said: "It's in the papers all over Denmark that the final is in Vojens.

"We're very pleased to have it there because it is a great chance for Denmark to lift the title again."

Pedersen, part of the Danish team that finished runners-up behind hosts Poland in this year's final at Leszno in July, added: "We feel we did a very good job this year.

"However, we still felt disappointed when we were on the podium in Poland after the final.

"Of course, Poland were strong at home, but if we meet Poland in Denmark, Sweden or Britain we would feel we have a great chance of beating them."

Pedersen, who has been in Britain this week meeting and thanking his sponsors for their 2007 support, travels to Denmark tomorrow for the winter.

The Grand Prix rider is still waiting to hear if he will be offered a contract to ride for Poole Castle Cover for a seventh successive campaign next year.

However, he has already tied up deals to continue six sponsorships with local and national companies for 2008.

They are Progrip, ARB Bearings, Talon, Fry's Electrical, FM Recruiting and Teng Tools.
