SWANAGE Town and Herston manager Derek Beale believes his side have discovered a taste for victory, following their epic 5-3 triumph at Cobham Sports on Saturday.

Beale believed his men were dead and buried with two minutes to go, as the hosts led the Dorset Senior Cup Second Round clash 3-1.

But two late strikes forced extra time, before Swans turned on the style to reach the third round.

The Days Park outfit are now unbeaten in their last four matches.

And Beale is delighted to see his side putting their sluggish start to the campaign behind them.

He said: "The boys are on a high again now - they obviously like winning."

Cobham's Danny Payne had opened the scoring in this titanic battle on 24 minutes but Lee Turner levelled with a scorching drive.

Swans' Ben Briscoe then missed a penalty and Peter Goodbody and Payne struck to make Swans pay.

But the visitors staged a sensational fightback and goals from Tim Brown and Jacob Harrop forced extra-time.

With Cobham shattered, there was only going to be one winner and Mark Bryan scored seven minutes into overtime, before Harrop scored his second on 106.

Elsewhere, Western League First Division outfit Bridport overpowered Dorset Premier title challengers Holt United 2-1 at Petersham Lane.

Tony White's own goal left the Bees buzzing on nine minutes and Ashley Clarke sealed victory with six minutes left.

This meant Carl Chivers' goal for Holt in the dying minutes was too little, too late.

Hamworthy Recreation made it two wins in a week against Blandford United with a 4-1 cup triumph at Magna Road.

Jamie Moores opened the scoring for Rec on 12 but Jamie Haylock gave the Royals a surprise equaliser seven minutes before the break.

Brian Lucas needed just two minutes to restore the home team's lead and goals from Chris Rigler on 65 and Mike Notley on 84 settled matters.

In the day's other Dorset Senior Cup clash, Gillingham Town defeated Sturminster Newton United 1-0, courtesy of a Lee Cunningham effort after 57 minutes.

Meanwhile, in the Dorset Premier League, Sturminster Marshall surrendered a 2-1 advantage five minutes from time to draw 2-2 at Bridport Reserves.

Poole Borough's season appears to have taken a turn for the worse, after they suffered their second straight league loss at Portland United.

The Hornets, who were unbeaten in their opening seven games, went down 2-0 to the league leaders.

And the afternoon's final DPL clash saw Cranborne and Hamworthy United play out a 0-0 draw at Penny's Lane.
