CHERRIES skipper Darren Anderton is hoping to relive some past glories when he lines up against Leeds at Dean Court tonight.

The 35-year-old scored what he described as "the best goal of my career" to help Spurs see off Leeds in an FA Cup fifth round replay in 1999.

Anderton's stunning 35-yard drive whistled past his then England team-mate Nigel Martyn and almost raised the roof at White Hart Lane.

The memorable strike, one of four Anderton has netted against the Elland Road outfit, has been viewed more than 6,700 times on the video sharing website You Tube.

Anderton said: "I've got quite a good record against them so hopefully that can continue. Warren Cummings never stops talking about that goal!"

He added: "We've given ourselves a chance of going into the game with confidence following Saturday's win over Bristol Rovers and the draw with Walsall.

"Leeds are the best team in the league, I don't think there's any doubt about that, and it's going to be a very difficult game for us.

"But, on our day, we're a match for anybody in this league so let's hope it's that way against Leeds. It should be a great game for the fans as well so let's hope we put on a performance that the game deserves."

Anderton, who faced Leeds during their Premiership days, added: "Of course it's nice to have them in our league but it's a shame in terms of football that five years ago they we're playing in a Champions' League semi-final.

"But that's football and it just shows how quickly things can change and if you look at our predicament right now, I think it's something that maybe we've got to look at ourselves."
