MANCHESTER United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has “failed with a bid” to re-sign Cherries striker Joshua King, according to the Telegraph.
The publication claims 28-year-old King, who came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford, was seen as the “perfect addition” to add cutting edge to the Red Devils’ attack.
But the report says Cherries boss Eddie Howe “will do everything possible” to keep the Oslo-born hitman at Vitality Stadium.
King, who scored against United for Cherries in a 1-0 win back in Nevember, is the Dorset club's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer with 45 in total.
He joined Eddie Howe’s men from Blackburn in 2015, after departing Old Trafford in January 2013.
