WARREN Byerley shrugged off illness to grab the winner for flu-hit Hammers as they completed an unlikely win on the road.

He converted an early penalty after Steve Legg had been brought down and it was enough to seal United's success.

Hamworthy manager Phil Simkin said: "It was quite remarkable because most of our squad were either injured or had flu.

"We brought in James Stickland for his debut and he did well up front.

"Warren played with flu and lasted 75 minutes before he was almost dead on his feet.

"He tucked away the penalty to give us a lead, and we defended it brilliantly.

"Richard Jackson played with flu and finished the game, so all in all, considering the problems we had getting a team out, I'm delighted."

Hamworthy United: Peters, Gilbert, Horlock, Walker, Grimason, Hubbard, Legg, R Middleton, Jackson, Byerley (Webb 75), Stickland. Unused subs: Norrish, Ward.
