SAM Vokes is hoping to fire Cherries a step closer to Wembley - and end two personal jinxes along the way.
The young star got his chance in the starting XI at Barrow in the absence of the suspended Lee Bradbury, and he is again set to lead the line in tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash against MK Dons.
Although he has been in good scoring form for Wales under-21s, Vokes is yet to notch a goal for Cherries this season.
The frontman has also never netted for Cherries at Dean Court in competitive action.
He is hoping to put things right on both counts.
"It would be a good time to get one," joked Vokes.
"There's no particular reason, it's just that all my goals have been away.
"It would be nice to get on the scoresheet and it would be good with Sky there."
Vokes has been given permission to play in the game and delay his link-up with Wales under-21s.
He was supposed to join Brian Flynn's side yesterday but will now meet up with them tomorrow at Chester, ahead of the games against Bosnia on Saturday and France next Tuesday.
The 18-year-old is looking forward to the opportunity of showcasing his talents in front of a live TV audience.
He added: "With the cameras there it makes players and the crowd more excited.
"Hopefully it will be a good crowd and we'll get the win we need, and go closer to Wembley."
MK Dons could recall Keith Andrews, Willy Gueret, Leon Knight and Drissa Diallo after the quartet missed Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Crewe.
