CHERRIES star Danny Ings delivered one in the eye to his band of doubters and then revealed their criticism had spurred him on.
The teenage striker came up trumps after being restored to the starting line-up for Cherries’ crucial League One clash at Notts County.
Ings netted with a finely-taken 77th-minute goal as Lee Bradbury’s promotion-chasers regained a place in the top six with a 2-0 win at Meadow Lane.
His effort added to an Anton Robinson header as Cherries halted an alarming seven-match winless run, the club’s longest in the same season since 2006-07.
Ings told the Daily Echo: “It was a great feeling to score. I have had a lot of criticism so it was good to get on the scoresheet.
“There has been a lot of pressure on me but I think I have taken it in my stride. The fact I got a lot of criticism has really pushed me to try to be successful.
“It is not as if I am trying to prove people wrong, I just want to show them I can score goals.”
