SHAUN Cooper believes Cherries could “do well” in League One but insisted they would remain fully focused until the promotion mission is completed.
The defender continued his comeback from injury by helping Cherries to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Darlington at Dean Court.
A second-half header from Anton Robinson settled the nerves before Brett Pitman’s penalty helped Eddie Howe’s stars open up a healthy eight-point advantage over the chasing pack.
And with just three games remaining, Cherries are within touching distance of achieving elevation to English football’s third tier.
The former Cherries captain told the Daily Echo: “It is getting closer but we just want to get the job done. We’re not taking our foot off the gas until the job is done properly and it is all mathematically safe.
“The lads have done well and we’ve just got to keep concentrating.
“It’s a great place to be – it’s nice and it’s different.”
