BRANSGORE thrower Scott Mitchell admitted taking to the oche online this week had been a “blessing in disguise” to help him keep match sharpness.
The 49-year-old has been part of the ‘A Night At The Darts’ League run by Modus Darts Events and Management.
He has battled against the likes of BDO legend Martin Adams and five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld across webcams from home, sealing six wins from his opening 12 games.
And Mitchell, who fully backed the concept of playing online, was thankful for being able to find a competitive edge.
He told the Daily Echo: “It has come as a bit of a blessing in disguise in making me actually play and practice.
“I was quite keen to do it. I had hardly touched a dart since the last PDC Pro Tour. I thought we were going to be on this shutdown for at least two months.”
Scotty Dog, a farmer by trade, also revealed how he had been dealing with the COVID-19 lockdown.
“Life as a farmer is isolation anyway,” he added. “You are doing your own thing at your own time and you are not really coming across a lot of people.”
