DAN Gosling revealed there had been "no talks" regarding a new contract at Cherries before he completed his permanent switch to Watford over the weekend.

Gosling's deal at Vitality Stadium had been due to expire in the summer and he says the club had not offered him fresh terms.

The midfielder rejected a switch to Nottingham Forest last week in the hope to force his way back into Jason Tindall's plans, but after Cherries signed Ben Pearson from Preston North End, he decided to exit and head to Hertfordshire.

"It's been pretty full on. A lot of telephone calls, a lot of back and forth, but we've all come to an agreement and I'm absolutely delighted to be here," Gosling told the Watford website.

"I wasn't playing much football at Bournemouth. They recently signed another midfielder and I was running out of contract and at the moment there were no talks.

"So when Watford said they were interested, it was clear for me to go down that avenue and see what happened. It's all signed and sealed and I couldn't be happier now."

He added: "The last five days really have been quite tough on everyone. A lot of anxiety in my household.

"I've got a heavily pregnant wife and two young children so with home-schooling, sorting my situation out, travelling here, there and everywhere and dealing with hormones etcetera, it's been really difficult, the past few days. But it's all done and settled down."
