JONATHAN Woodgate insisted Shane Long had shown a “fantastic attitude” at Cherries and added: “I can’t speak highly enough of him.”
The Republic of Ireland international signed for the Dorset club on loan from Saints in the final hours of the transfer window last month.
Long has since scored two goals in seven Championship appearances, having started on three occasions.
But Woodgate said the 34-year-old had made a big impression on the rest of the squad.
Asked what impact Long had made, the Cherries head coach said: “I’d say he’s a massive impact.
“His mentality more than anything and how he’s been training day in, day out, even when he hasn’t been playing. He’s shown a fantastic attitude.
“Okay he’s come from Southampton, probably looking to play more games than he has done but he’s never let his head go down.
“He’s remained professional and when he gets on, he gives it everything he’s got. I can’t speak highly enough of him and what he’s giving at the minute.”
Long will be hoping to feature when Cherries host Barnsley in the Championship on Saturday.
