LONG-SERVING duo Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas have both been offered new contracts by Cherries.

The pair's deals are currently set to expire at the end of June, when they would become free agents.

But Cherries have confirmed both have been offered the chance to extend their stays at Vitality Stadium, with discussions ongoing regarding their futures.

A statement from the club confirmed Smith and Stanislas "were offered new contracts last autumn and continued negotiations throughout the campaign, but both players wished to keep their options open until the end of the season. The club remains in discussion with their agents."

Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere's departure from Cherries has been confirmed, after his short-term contract expired.

Including a loan spell during the 2010-11 season, Smith has played 284 games for Cherries.

The Londoner returned on a permanent basis in January 2014, signing from Tottenham, and went on to help the club seal promotion into the Premier League, where he became a regular starter.

Smith, 30, has scored six goals for Cherries, most recently in a 4-2 win over Leicester City in 2018.

Asked about his future in April, the full-back told the Daily Echo: "To be honest, I’m not really thinking about my contract situation. There’s so many games, I haven’t got time to think about it to be honest!

"I just need to focus on playing and once we know what’s happening, if we’re in the play-offs or whatnot, then I can make a decision on my future."

Stanislas was also part of the squad to win promotion from the Championship during the 2014-15 campaign.

The 31-year-old's time on the south coast has been hampered by injury. Since arriving from Burnley in 2014, Stanislas has played 166 times, netting 37 goals.

He proved to be one of Cherries' key attacking outlets this season, scoring 11 goals, the first time he has reached double figures in a campaign.

But he was forced to watch Saturday's play-off loss to Brentford from the stands due to a hamstring problem.

Wilshere completed a remarkable return to the Dorset club in January, signing as a free agent having been released by West Ham United.

The former England international previously played for Cherries during the 2016-17 campaign, on loan from Arsenal, helping the club to a ninth-placed Premier League finish, the highest ending position in the club's history.

Wilshere, 29, played 17 games for Cherries this season, scoring in wins over Crawley Town and Birmingham City.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, Wilshere said: "Being honest, I don't know if this is the end. The coming weeks will tell."

Loanees Rodrigo Riquelme, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Shane Long have all returned to their parent clubs.

Cherries did have an option to sign Riquelme as part of his loan agreement from Atletico Madrid, but have not looked to make that move permanent.

The Spaniard played 19 times for Cherries this season, mainly as a substitute, scoring twice.
