DORSET star Georgia Hall admitted an “exhausting schedule” and coronavirus restrictions played a part in her decision not to represent Team GB at the Olympic Games.
The 25-year-old and fellow Brit Charley Hull have both pulled out of selection for the Tokyo trip next month.
Hall has spent the majority of her playing schedule in America this season and is currently competing at the Aramco Team Series in London.
"I was honoured to have the opportunity to represent Team GB in Tokyo this year," said 2018 Women's British Open champion.
"However, it has been an exhausting schedule spending three months away from home and, with the current restrictions in place due to Covid-19, I feel it's the best decision for me not to go.
"I don't feel that going to Japan would allow me to prepare properly for the important few weeks ahead.
“I wish Team GB the best of luck in Tokyo and will be supporting them all the way."
The opening round of the women’s event at Kasumigaseki Country Club is set to begin on Wednesday, August 4.
