PLAYER-boss Christer Warren felt his 10-man team proved a point after coming from behind to draw at title rivals AFC Totton.

Wimborne fell behind in the 32nd minute to Anthony Lloyd's goal, but captain Paul Roast levelled with 17 minutes remaining before his sending off left the Cuthbury outfit to battle it out for a draw.

"I thought we did better in the first half than the second but we went in 1-0 down," explained Warren.

"They're a very hard team to play against. They're big, strong, direct and with the two front people they had yesterday they're going to cause problems.

"I thought we dealt with it really well but conceded from a set piece and I was disappointed with the goal."

In recent weeks, Warren had spoken of his team's need to make the most of their opportunities in front of goal, something they again failed to do at the weekend.

"We've got to be doing a bit better with our chances. It's a fine line between winning and losing and that's the difference - taking those chances.

"But it was probably a fair result. It was a great reaction from the lads from coming in 1-0 down at half-time and we kept going and I'm really pleased.

"Paul Roast got sent off and we all dug in together and can take a lot of positives."

It was the first time this season that Wimborne had taken points off one of their main rivals, following defeats against Poole Town, Totton and Bournemouth Poppies.

Warren added: "It was nice to prove to people we can get points against the top teams and give them a right good game."
