SAM Surridge missed Saturday's 5-0 Carabao Cup win over MK Dons due to a "little bit of a knock", boss Scott Parker confirmed.
Striker Surridge was a notable absentee from the matchday 18, with Dominic Solanke leading the line and teenager Christian Saydee providing cover on the bench.
Both forwards scored in the comfortable win over the League One Dons, with a David Brooks brace and Philip Billing strike completing the rout.
Asked why Surridge, who featured in every pre-season match for Cherries, wearing the captain's armband on more than one occasion, did not take his place in the squad on Saturday, Parker told the Daily Echo: "He had a little bit of a knock he was carrying a little bit.
"So I just felt that it probably wasn’t right.
"He’s trained this morning (Saturday) with the non-squad players and I left because I was obviously coming to the game, but from what I see, he seemed like as if he’s come through that.
"So I’d like to think he’ll be back with the team and training with the team on Monday and then see where we are."
Cherries get their Championship campaign underway against West Bromwich Albion at Vitality Stadium on Friday evening.
