SCOTT Parker admits Cherries did not deserve to come away with all three points against Blackpool, stating: "I just didn’t feel we dealt well with the ebbs and flows of a football match."
Cherries led 2-0 inside the opening 20 minutes at Vitality Stadium thanks to a Dominic Solanke double.
However, Neil Critchley's side roared back in the second half with two goals inside three minutes from James Husband and Jerry Yates seeing the game end 2-2.
Asked if he felt it was two points dropped for his team, Cherries boss Parker said: "Yeah, it probably is. I think that’s probably a fair assumption.
"In saying that, I think it was probably a fair result on the scheme of things really. I thought for the first 25 to 30 minutes we were exceptional, 2-0 up and really right on the ascendancy and did very well and then probably died off at the back end of the first half, or needed half-time to come to reset a little bit.
"Then in the second half, moments in games, Dom goes through to maybe make it three and the game probably out of sight.
"And then before you know it, the changes of emotions in a football match that it goes 2-1, 2-2 and from there really we just lacked an intensity about us really.
"We struggled a little bit. Fair play to Blackpool. I thought they did very well today, I thought they got themselves back in front, caused us problems in the second half.
"So overall disappointed because I felt like we could’ve and should’ve won the game."
Asked if he feels his team looked a bit shell-shocked after being pegged back to 2-2, Parker added: "I think that’s fair to say. This is a young side. I think we all recognise that.
"These are experiences some of these players are going through for the first time. I just didn’t feel we dealt well with the ebbs and flows of a football match.
"What I mean by the ebbs and flows of a football match is there’s not many games you’re always in the driver’s seat like we were for 25 minutes and goals are going in.
"The ebbs and flows of football matches are it changes. Our mindset and how we approach those moments is key and I just didn’t feel we dealt with that too well – 2-1, then before you know it it’s 2-2. I just felt that we probably emotionally didn’t deal with the game in that period."
Quizzed on what he tried to address at half-time, Parker said: "I felt our tempo came off it after 30 minutes and we slowed the game down a little bit.
"I don’t think they changed massively in the first half for the last 15 minutes, I just felt that we lost our way in terms of really we became more passive and just to say we need to inject pace still, we need to play at a tempo whether it’s 2-0 or not, we need to go some.
"In saying that, like I said, Dom’s chance and then after that they score. I never felt after that we really got going.
"We jabbed away a little bit and we had some other half chances, but I didn’t see the team in the second half look how I wanted us to look really.
"We’ll improve from this today and we’ll move on and we’ll become better for it."
