FRUSTRATED Nathan Jones was left unimpressed with “some clown in the stand” for not allowing his side to have the ball back late on against Cherries.
With the ball going out of play for a throw-in near the away dugout in injury time, first-team coach Chris Cohen attempted to retrieve it from a supporter at Vitality Stadium.
Jones offered some words to the fan, who had kept hold of the ball, with Cohen booked by referee Tim Robinson for leaving the field of play.
Cherries went on to hold on to their 2-1 advantage and return to the top of the Championship, thanks to goals from Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke.
Asked about the incident, boss Jones said: “It was some clown in the stand, just wants to put his ball under his thing – fair enough. It slows the game down.”
Jones was also left baffled by the amount of stoppage time played by the officials.
“There’s four minutes of injury time which – there was about 20 subs – so I don’t understand that,” he added.
“I don’t understand some of the decisions.
“We played Swansea last week, both teams made all the subs and he played six. No time-wasting, no nothing.
“I struggle sometimes but there’s no blame in that. We are just disappointed because we felt we deserved something from the game.
“But we can’t keep saying that. We have to show we are a good side. You look at statistically, we should be third in the league but we’re not.”
Billing and Solanke netted after assists from Ryan Christie in the opening period, before Reece Burke’s strike deflected off Lloyd Kelly to pull a goal back for the visitors.
The Hatters boss said: “They scored with their only two shots on target really but that’s the quality they have, that’s what you can’t do.
“Second half I thought we were excellent.”
He added: “We are top-three in terms of our XG in the amount of clear-cut chances we create, more than anybody. At the minute we’re not demonstrating that quality to score.
“We’re creating loads. They are giving me absolutely everything, we’ve got a big, big injury list which hopefully, after the international break, we get (players) back but we have to stay in there.”
