FIVE-star New Milton Town turned on the style to condemn Wessex Premier Division whipping boys Downton to another heavy defeat.
Trevor Parker's improving side look to have overcome the relegation fears that surrounded the club earlier in the season. And Linnets continued their revival with a comfortable win on Saturday, despite playing the majority of the second half with 10 men after Ryan Long received his marching orders in the 65th minute.
Dave Ewen, fresh from turning down offers from Poole Town and Brockenhurst, struck twice at Downton, as did Dominic Allen, before Callum Burt got the fifth late on.
"It was an excellent result. It's just a shame we couldn't have done it a few weeks ago when we drew 0-0 against them," joked assistant boss Richie Phippard.
"Jonny Grace was outstanding in midfield. And Dave Ewen played well to give the perfect answer after his decision to stay."
New Milton Town: Jones, Marks, R Chengadu, Neville, Pidgley (Booker), Walker, Grace, Burt, Allen (Mekchiche), Ewen, Long. Unused subs: Henwood, Holt.
