IT HAS been a productive few days on and off the field for Hamworthy United as they picked up three points, as well as three new players.
With his squad already hit by injuries and set to suffer from suspensions, Hammers boss Phil Simkin has swooped to bring in a trio of new faces.
Lee Thomas has completed his full transfer from Poole Borough, 20-year-old right-back Tom Stone has signed from Winchester City and Downton's Michael Glavin is on the verge of a move.
"We're strengthening for the final push," Simkin told the Daily Echo.
"We're going to be hit by suspensions and it's important we've got depth in numbers and they will be valuable members of the squad."
Hamworthy, who were without strikers Jack Swann, Warren Byerley and Carl Mutch for Saturday's Wessex Premier Division clash against Brockenhurst, bounced back from the midweek defeat at Lymington to record an impressive win.
As Brock's title hopes have disappeared in recent weeks, Hammers have continued their steady climb up the table and Richard Jackson's goal sealed the victory, which moved the County Ground outfit into eighth position, with games in hand on the two teams above them.
Simkin was delighted with the win at the weekend.
He said: "Their team sheet was a bit of a worry compared to ours, with so many missing. But we dug in, matched them up and deserved it."
In the absence of his three first-choice forwards, Simkin handed another start to James Pinder, who has impressed since joining the club from Sunday League football.
"James Pinder was absolutely brilliant," Simkin told the Daily Echo.
"He's quick and strong, he's as raw as they come but he's honest. He did extremely well up front with Ryan Dovell."
The excellent win was marred by Micky Hubbard's sending off after the playmaker saw red for an alleged punch following a late tackle.
Simkin revealed that star man Swann was set for another two weeks on the sidelines.
He added: "Jack Swann is going to a chiropractor because his lower back might be causing the hamstring problem. He's out for a couple of weeks."
Hamworthy United: Peters, Byrne, Grimason, Gilbert, Walker, R Middleton, Hubbard, Dean, Jackson, Dovell, Pinder. Unused subs: Mutch, B Williams, Horlock, Baguley, Marsh.
