TALISMANIC midfielder Taffy Richardson is urging his Poole Town team-mates to want it enough'' when they battle for a place in the last 16 of the FA Vase tomorrow.

Wessex League duty takes a back seat as the Dolphins, who are only a tantalising four victories away from an historic Wembley final, welcome Durham outfit Consett to Tatnam Farm.

But the fourth round encounter promises to provide the home side, who progressed to this stage after a 1-0 win over Cowes Sports, a stern test.

Consett are currently third in the first division of the Northern League and have been defeated only three times in 21 games this season.

Their away record is excellent too, having registered eight wins in 14 matches, and as well as plundering 57 goals, they also boast the division's most frugal defence.

And the vastly experienced Richardson, originally from nearby Hartlepool, is under no illusions as to the scale of the task ahead.

He told the Daily Echo: It's going to be a very difficult game for us because they are a big, strong side with some very good forwards.

I've played against them a couple of times and they play excellent football but combine it with physical presence which makes them tough to beat.''

We're confident though and know that if we turn up and perform we can beat them, but the boys have got to want it enough.''

Still fondly nostalgic over his part in Wimborne Town's momentous 1992 FA Vase success, Richardson, who is expected to comeback into the side tomorrow, is keen for this cup-run to emulate his former glory.

The tenacious veteran played along side Dolphins manager Tom Killick, who famously scored that day, and he sees parallels between the Magpies' memorable cup-run and Poole's current campaign.

He said: It reminds me a lot of 1992 when we had long trips up north against physical teams but we managed to progress to the final, and I don't see why we can't this time.'' Obviously the prospect of playing at Wembley is a massive carrot but we're just taking it one step at a time, we don't want to get carried away.'' Dolphins boss Killick is also acutely aware that Consett will be a tough proposition, but says he enjoys the different pressures and attention a successful cup-run brings.

They're flying high in the league and we've had good reports on them from two sources,'' he said.

The two forwards have been a big part of their success so we'll try our best to prevent them from getting chances.'' It's refreshing to come up against teams from further afield, and supporters always get excited by a good cup-run.'' Ian Richardson is suspended for tomorrow's match and Ben Osborne is cup-tied, but Luke Whitley and Aaron Skelton are all expected to return.
