LAMIN Dibba fluffed a late chance as Poppies had to be content with a point on the island.
To be fair to Dibba, he had to stretch a long way to get on the end of Leigh Phillips' headed cross back across Cowes' six-yard box.
"But it was a chance Lamin would usually put away," said Poppies boss James Wood.
Luckless Dibba had also had an earlier effort cleared off the line by a Cowes defender as Wood admitted: "Both sides probably had an equal amount of chances, so all in all it was a fair result.
"Coming back on the ferry on Saturday night everyone was a little bit dejected because we hadn't won the game.
"On reflection though, it wasn't our best performance, we were a little bit lethargic, probably because of the stop-start nature of the season because of the bad weather at the moment, and were lucky to come away with a point.
"It just shows how far we have come this season though because if we had got a 0-0 at Cowes last season we would have been delighted."
