SAINTS B team’s Premier League Cup clash at home to Cherries’ development squad has been postponed “due to a recent rise in COVID cases across the country”.
The sides were set to go toe-to-toe in their group encounter at Snows Stadium.
A statement on Saints website read: “The rearranged Premier League Cup clash between Southampton's B team and AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday has been postponed.
“Due to a recent rise in COVID cases across the country, the match on December 22nd has been postponed.
“Details of a rearranged fixture will be released in due course.”
The sides had originally scheduled the game for November, but it had to be abandoned due to heavy fog on that occasion.
Dave Horseman's side led 1-0, before the contest was deemed unplayable due to the weather.
Teenage striker Luke Pearce had given the hosts the first-half lead, but the game was called off around the hour mark.
