TEN-YEAR-OLDS Vicky Adams and Sophie Cooke recorded four 1-2s for Bournemouth Dolphins to lead a 32-medal haul by east Dorset swimmers at the Tigersharks Winter Open Meet in Swindon.

Adams maintained a 100-per-cent record as she took gold in the 10yrs 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley in times, respectively, of 33.72, 1:11.66, 2:32.31, 5:18.57 and 2:58.18.

In the four shorter events, Cooke was the silver medallist in times of 34.48, 1:16.57, 2:42.57 and 3:08.13.

But she also took her turn on the winner's rostrum after victories in the 10yrs 100m and 200m breaststroke (1:33.19 and 3:23.32).

Vicky's elder brother Sam Adams also collected five medals - gold in the 13yrs 200m and 400m freestyle (2:13.38 and 4:36.64), silver in the 50 and 100m freestyle (29.11 and 1:01.99) and 200m IM (2:38.07).

Isabelle Frampton led the medal charge for Christchurch and New Milton Seagulls with gold in the 11yrs 100 and 200m butterfly (1:21.56 and 3:01.26) and 400m medley (6:10.93) and silver in the 200m and 400m freestyle (2:32.55 and 5:20.04) and 200m medley (2:55.02).

Breaststroke also provided two medals for Anand Vaithilingham as he came first in the 14yrs 100m event (1:24.13) and second in the 200m (3:11.95).

Bronze medals went to Seagulls' Casey Albion-Vatcher in the 14yrs 100m backstroke (1:13.10) and Charlotte Vatcher in the 15 and over 100m butterfly (1:18.15).

JOE GOES SECOND

BOURNEMOUTH Dolphins' 12-year-old Joe Poynter is now ranked second in the country in seven events in his age group after another brace of scintillating swims in the South West distance trials in Millfield School's 50m pool.

His 800m freestyle time of 9:03.53 brings him within three seconds of City of Leeds prodigy Matthew Johnson, also 12, and makes them the two fastest 12 and under boys in the all-time British rankings.

Poynter, who will be 13 on Sunday, also clipped another second off his PB for the 400m individual medley (5:02.76) to confirm his second place behind Johnson in the current rankings.

Team-mate Vicky Adams also achieved her South West qualifying time in the 400m medley event.

Seagulls' Peter Griffiths slashed 64 seconds off his 800m freestyle PB at Millfield.

The 10-year-old clocked 10:55.43, which was not only a club record for the 11yrs age group but was inside the club records for 12 and 13-year-olds.

In the same heat, team-mate Sophie Duffell recorded a long course PB of 11:10.08.

Connor Sleightholme was slightly disappointed with his 800m time but responded in the 400 IM, using his improved breaststroke to record a time of 5:41.35.

This not only improved his long course PB but was faster than his previous best in the 25m pool.
