BOSS Scott Parker admitted his “heart breaks” for luckless Kieffer Moore’s injury struggle at Cherries but insisted: “There is a long way to go for him and his longevity at this football club.”
Signed as one of five transfer deadline day deals at the end of January, Moore arrived at Vitality Stadium to provide competition for frontman Dominic Solanke.
But the Wales international’s start to life at Cherries took a painful blow when he broke his foot, having played just three minutes against Birmingham City earlier this month.
He is set to be out for two months with the problem, having undergone surgery.
“My heart breaks for Kieffer, to be honest with you,” Parker told the Daily Echo.
“You move from a club in January, which is always tough. You move down to a new environment, new accommodation – everything about it is very different.
“The one thing that probably is consistent is just being on the training field, getting amongst the lads, making yourself at home and getting that comfort about everything.
“He is out for eight weeks. He is going to be on the treatment table – the worst place any player wants to be.
“That, coincided with everything that is new to him, is disappointing.”
The injury also means Torquay-born Moore is set to miss Wales's upcoming World Cup qualification play-off against Austria on Thursday, March 24.
But Parker insisted despite the setback, 29-year-old Moore would still prove his talent at Vitality Stadium.
“He gives me the impression when I have been around him in a short space of time and I’ve spoken to him, as someone who is very level, very mature,” added the Cherries boss.
“I have no doubt he will be fine with that but I am gutted for him really.
“I am gutted for us as a team that he can’t help us and I’m gutted for him that, initially, it’s not gone to plan.
“But there is a long way to go for him and his longevity at this football club. He will be fine.”
