HAMWORTHY United secured their place in the final four of the FA Vase with a penalty win against Southall, meaning the ninth tier side are a step away from Wembley.
A club record 741 were in attendance as the Hammers reached the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in their history.
The two goals of the 1-1 draw were condensed to the final five minutes, with Southall seemingly snatching a winner five minutes from time after hitting the hosts on the break.
However, the Hammers kept the Wembley dreams alive with an almost immediate equaliser through Max Wilcock.
With Vase rules stating that drawn fixtures go straight to penalties, there was little time for either side to compose themselves after the dramatic finish.
Southall would have taken confidence from the fact that had advanced through the last four rounds on penalty, but their streak ended at the Sunseeker International County Ground.
During the first five attempts the two sides matched each other, with both sides converting four and missing one apiece.
In sudden death the scoring continued, until ‘keeper Shane Murphy stopped Southall’s eighth penalty to win the shootout 7-6.
Apart from a place in the semi-finals, Hamworthy received £4,125 for their victory.
Littlehampton, who vanquished Hamworthy’s Wessex Premier League rivals Brockenhurst in an earlier round, are also in the hat, whilst Loughborough University and Newport Pagnell make up the semi-finalists.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made on Monday, March 14 at 3.15pm on TalkSPORT2.
