BOURNEMOUTH Bears finally get their 2022 British baseball season underway this weekend.
Bears have entered two teams this year, competing in the British Baseball Federation’s South West Division and the South West & Wales Baseball League.
The AAA roster has high hopes of success after winning their league in 2021.
They have recruited a number of new players during the off-season, as well as a new boss in Ben Hyde.
Also flush with new squad members, the Single A roster, managed by Warren Doyle, is looking to have its best season yet.
On Sunday the AAA team will host the Bristol Badgers at Ferndown Leisure Centre. The double header begins at 12pm and the Bears will look to repeat last year’s back-to-back wins over the
Badgers.
The Single A roster are also in action, as they travel to Bristol to take on the hometown Brunels at the Somerdale Pavilion.
Bears general manager, Wendoly Gonzalez, said: “We’ve had a fantastic off-season, the whole squad has worked very hard and we’ve seen a lot of development from every single player.
“The club continues to develop and with the amount of talent we’ve got we’re confident of a strong season from both teams. As we continue to grow in Bournemouth and the surrounding area we’d love to see as much support as possible at Ferndown throughout the season.”
