HAMWORTHY United have been confirmed as Wessex Premier League champions with two games to spare after a 4-1 victory at AFC Portchester.
A Max Wilcock hat-trick followed up by a goal from Eddie Hodge meant Tim Sills’s side were seven points ahead of title-rivals Bashley with only two league contests remaining.
Wilcock opened the scoring after just 30 minutes against Portchy. Steve Devlin’s delivery from a free-kick was perfect for the striker to head home.
Sam Pearce drew the game level for the hosts two minutes later, but the league leaders were not to be denied
Another Devlin cross cannoned off the woodwork with Wilcock first to react to make it 2-1 before the break.
A slick move then saw Wilcock add his third with three minutes remaining, before Hodge struck late to ensure it was party time for the County Ground outfit.
Hammers have won 28 of their 38 league contests this campaign, drawing nine and losing on just one occasion.
They are set to be promoted to Southern League Division One South next season.
