DOLPHINS striker Tony Lee found a new way to take the headlines, after a crazy contest against Wimborne Town on Easter Monday.

Lee, the Southern Premier South's joint top scorer this season, had scored twice to fire Poole into a 3-2 lead at New Cuthbury just before half-time.

However, his afternoon came to an early end, shown a second yellow card for what was deemed overzealous celebrations with the fans.

Dolphins went on to seal a 4-2 win over rock-bottom Magpies, who themselves were down to 10 men when goalscorer John White was also given his marching orders.

With more than 1,000 in attendance, Poole looked to fly out the traps, rattling the crossbar in the opening minutes. From the first of 36 free-kicks on the day, Corby Moore's delivery was met by Will Fletcher, who headed against the woodwork.

But it was Wimborne who got their noses in front early on. Dan Bartlett, who left Poole to move to New Cuthbury earlier this season, delivered for Lewis Beale to fire home.

Lee soon equalised, injuring Magpies' stopper Gerard Benfield in the process, who was replaced by youngster Reece Mitchell.

Undeterred by the double setback, the hosts rallied to go ahead again. Harry Morgan crossed low for Southend United loanee White to prod in.

Back came Poole, equalising as half-time approached. Lee smashed the ball across the box, where Cherries loanee Marcus Daws arrived at the far post to convert.

And Dolphins quickly found themselves ahead for the first time of the afternoon. Harry Hutchinson crossed deep for Lee, who arrived from deep to power home a header.

However, Lee's hopes of a hat-trick, or moving clear at the top of the league's scoring charts, were scuppered when he was shown a second yellow card for his celebrations with visiting fans behind the goal.

Nine minutes into the second half, Wimborne were also down a man. Referee Harry Scott handed White his second yellow after the day, deemed to have tripped Daws.

Poole were the side pushing for more goals, but they were almost caught at the other end as Jez Bedford's header struck the crossbar.

Dolphins did kill off the contest in the closing stages as Jack Dickson fired low inside the near post.

Poole sit ninth after that victory, with both sides having one game remaining to round off their campaigns.
