BOURNEMOUTH Bears AAA side split their second series of the season against the Taunton Rebeldes.
On a sunny Easter Sunday in Somerset, and after a 72-mile drive, Bears played two games against the South West team, dropping the first and winning the second to move to 2-2 on the season.
Rebeldes pitcher, Miguel Sanchez, provided a strong opponent for the Bears in the first game, pitching five innings and only allowing two hits as the home side ran out 10-0 winners.
However, the second game was a different story, with the Bears’ bats coming alive in support of Jose Lopez on the mound. Lopez pitched five innings and picked up the win, striking out eight Rebeldes batters in the process.
At the plate, Bournemouth drove in 13 runs on as many hits with Rafael Ugas picking up four RBIs. However, it was Jose Bobadilla who stole the show with three hits, including a double and two RBIs, as he earned the manager’s player of the day honours from Ben Hyde.
Hyde also gave honourable mentions to Lopez for his pitching and Kayla Graham, who drove in a vital run to drive the Bears forward in game two.
Both the AAA and A teams are back in action next weekend, the AAA hosting facing the Rebeldes again - this time at home, and the A side travelling to Bristol for two games against the Bristol Bats.
