CHERRIES starlet Nathan Moriah-Welsh is reportedly on trial with League One Burton Albion with a view to a loan move.

It is believed the 20-year-old midfielder played 45 minutes for Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink’s side as they were defeated 1-0 by Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening, with former Cherry Steve Cook scoring the deciding goal with a bullet header.

Football Insider reports that they believe the Brewers are keen to sort out a loan move for the Guyana international.

Formerly with Chelsea, Reading and Brentford, Moriah-Welsh made his debut for Cherries back in January against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup.

Scott Parker turned heads when he deployed the winger as a right-back for the cup ties with Yeovil and Boreham Wood, whilst on the international stage, Moriah-Welsh has largely played as a central midfielder.

In total, Moriah-Welsh has represented his country 10 times since making his debut against Trinidad & Tobago in March, 2021.

He scored his first goal for Guyana last month, picking up a consolation strike in a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Haiti.

Chelsea-born Moriah-Welsh joined Cherries four years ago in the summer of 2018, and has been on the fringes of the first-team squad since the 2020-21 campaign.

He previously captained Alan Connell’s under-18s side.

Fellow young talent Christian Saydee, who has trialled with Portsmouth in recent weeks, spent time on loan at the Pirelli Stadium last term.

Whilst Pompey remain keen on the striker, Saydee was not included in Danny Cowley’s squad for a pre-season camp in Spain.
