ZENO Ibsen Rossi is set to undergo a medical at Cambridge United today ahead of a permanent move to the League One club, the Daily Echo understands.

The 21-year-old, who joined Cherries' academy from Southampton in 2017, made his first-team debut against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup last July.

He became a regular member of Scott Parker's threadbare squad in the early months of the 2021-22 campaign, featuring in three of the club's opening four Championship fixtures.

In total, the centre-back made seven appearances last season, the most recent of those coming in an FA Cup win at Yeovil Town in January.

Ibsen Rossi then departed to join Dundee on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

The Streatham-born talent has also spent time away at Kilmarnock during his time as a Cherries player.

In March of this year, Ibsen Rossi penned a new contract with Cherries, which expires in the summer of 2023.

But Cherries have looked to cash in now following their promotion to the Premier League, with Ibsen Rossi set for a switch to Mark Bonner's U's.

It is understood he will sign a three-year contract, providing he passes his medical.

Cambridge finished 14th in League One last season.

They had centre-back Sam Sherring on loan for the second half of that season. Sherring left Cherries permanently this summer, to join Northampton Town.
