FORMER Cherry talent Jordan Green has bounced back to full-time football after another stint in non-league, joining League Two Gillingham from sixth-tier Dulwich Hamlet.

Hailing from New Cross in southeast London, Green earnt headlines when he swapped stacking shelves in Waitrose for a move to Cherries in the summer of 2015, linking up with Stephen Purches’ under-21 side after impressing on trial.

Another impressive trial whilst at Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium saw him score and earn a penalty in a 2-0 friendly win over non-league Folkestone Invicta.

Prior to his first return to the pro-ranks, Green had spent time in Fulham’s academy, before being released for being too small at 16, when he was just 5ft.

After dropping to the Southern Premier League to join Banbury United, Green admitted he had thought about packing football in prior to joining Cherries, who had just reached the Premier League for the first time.

During his time with Cherries, he spent loan spells with Newport County and Leyton Orient, although he played no football whilst with the latter due to an issue with paperwork stemming from his loan spell with the former.

Green departed the Vitality Stadium two years after joining, linking up with Yeovil Town.

Two years with the Glovers in League Two saw him earn a move to League One Barnsley, but Green was unable to tie down a first-team spot with the Tykes.

Another loan spell with Newport and a stint at Southend United also didn’t provide Green with regular football, paving the way for his drop back into part-time football with National South Dulwich Hamlet.
