ZENO Ibsen Rossi has completed a permanent move from Cherries to Cambridge United.

It is understood the 21-year-old passed a medical at the League One club on Friday, before putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.

After some final pieces of paperwork were signed off, the defender has now completed his move, joining for undisclosed terms.

Ibsen Rossi, who arrived at Cherries’ academy from Southampton in 2017, made his first-team debut against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup last July.

He became a regular member of Scott Parker’s threadbare squad in the early months of the 2021-22 campaign, featuring in three of the club’s opening four Championship fixtures.

In total, the centre-back made seven appearances last season, the most recent of those coming in an FA Cup win at Yeovil Town in January.

Ibsen Rossi then departed to join Dundee on loan for the remainder of the campaign. The Streatham-born talent has also spent time away at Kilmarnock during his time as a Cherries player. In March of this year, Ibsen Rossi penned a new contract with Cherries, which expired in the summer of 2023. But Cherries have decided to cash in now following their promotion to the Premier League, with Ibsen Rossi completing a switch to Mark Bonner’s U’s.

Ibsen Rossi's departure leaves Cherries with just three recognised senior centre-backs in the squad in Lloyd Kelly, Chris Mepham and James Hill.

Teenager Owen Bevan has also travelled to Portugal with the squad for pre-season, while Jefferson Lerma filled in in that role for 45 minutes during Friday's training match against Sheffield Wednesday.
