BOSS Scott Parker underlined his desire for Cherries to be “horrible to play against” after his team’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.
Goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore ensured the Dorset club got their return to the top flight off to a winning start against Steven Gerrard’s side.
Despite having just 34 per cent of the ball at Vitality Stadium, Cherries put in more blocks, won more tackles and matched Villa in aerial duels.
Both of the hosts’ goals came following set-pieces, with Parker insisting any side that came to Dorset needed to feel they were in a game.
He said: “Coming here needs to be uncomfortable. Teams need to be coming away from here knowing they have been in a right game.
“They need to feel that constantly really. That’s a work in progress.
“We need to have that nasty streak about us, we need to be committed more than any team that come here really, so while quality at times can get the better of us – never can commitment, desire or passion get the better of us.
“Hopefully we will keep that going really."
He added: “We’re a newly promoted team. A team that’s come up and we are going into the hardest and most financed league in the world.
“Aston Villa have a very good squad, they’ve improved that again and that’s the capability. We know the challenge and what we are going to face.
“We need to show our physicality. We need to be horrible to play against. Teams need to come here and really understand they are always in a game.
“While they can win, we can win and lose, I want people to know that when they come here they are in for a tough afternoon.
“If they get the points, they are well worthy of them really. That needs to be the constant feeling amongst us.”
