BROOKLYN Genesini's first touch in a Cherries shirt was to salvage their League Cup match away at Norwich, with Scott Parker's side winning 5-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2.
The hosts opened scores via Jordan Hugill midway through the first period, before Cherries responded via Emi Marcondes.
Despite a host of chances for the away side, substitutes Teemu Pukki and Adam Idah combined, with the latter seemingly scoring the winner seven minutes from time.
However, Parker's bench proved just as deadly, with debutants Dominic Sadi and Brooklyn Genesini pairing to score a late equaliser.
Head coach Scott Parker made nine changes from the side that fell to a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend, with only Marcos Senesi and Ben Pearson retaining their spots in the side.
Jamal Lowe was slated to lead the line but was a late dropout due to illness, paving the way for Christian Saydee to start up top, whilst academy graduate Ben Greenwood and summer signing Neto were both handed first starts.
Jaidon Anthony had the best chance of the opening exchanges, but the winger was unable to capitalise with an unmarked header.
The 22-year-old was involved in the next flashpoint, with the wideman looking for a penalty after bursting into the box.
Whilst the Cherries attacker certainly had his shirt pulled by the defender, match official Michael Salisbury decided he had gone down too easily.
There were hearts in mouths down the other end when Neto was almost caught out at the back with a heavy first touch, but the Brazilian managed to find his feet and clear before harm could be done.
However, there was nothing more Neto could have done for the opener. The former Barcelona man did well to stretch and deny Gabriel Sara’s initial effort, but he was powerless to prevent an unmarked Hugill from popping up to fire home the rebound.
Undeterred by the hosts taking the lead, Cherries looked for an immediate response.
They almost found it when a delightfully dinked ball over the Norwich defence found Marcondes at the back post, the Dane only able to send his effort careering into the cross bar.
City’s goalkeeper Angus Gun then pulled a save right out of the top-drawer to deny a deflected strike from Saydee.
The academy graduate did well to turn and fire off a shot in one motion, the ball bouncing off a defender and seemingly towards the top right corner. However, Gunn got his fingertips on the effort, clawing it away for a corner.
Saydee would be involved in the equaliser. Another inventive turn inside the box allowed him to flick an effort towards goal. Gunn again denied him, but the rebound fell kindly for Marcondes, who duly tapped home the equaliser.
In the second half Saydee remained a handful. Again, his swivel-and-strike combination proved effective, his effort stinging the palms of Gunn in the Norwich goal.
The young striker almost provided an assist when his backheel effort fell into the path of Ryan Christie, but Gunn was again on form, clawing the shot off the line.
Norwich brought first-teamers Pukki, Idah, and Onel Hernandez in a bid to win the game.
The gambit seemed to have paid off for Dean Smith, with Pukki setting up Idah to put the Canaries back into the lead.
However, Cherries replicated the feat, with sub Sadi feeding a cross to fellow substitute Genesini to send the game to penalties.
Former Cherries loanee Todd Cantwell's miss proved costly, striking the post, allowing Ryan Christie to convert the fifth and win the shootout 5-3.
