RYAN Christie admitted that the mood in the Cherries’ dressing room was “very low” – but he maintained that the side were already looking to make amends in their next fixture.
Cherries fell to a 9-0 defeat away at Liverpool, equalising a club and Premier League record for heaviest defeat.
Braces from Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz, and efforts from Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Fabio Carvalho combined with a Chris Mepham own goal matched Cherries’ previous 9-0 defeat against Lincoln City in 1983.
Christie featured in the first-half before being substituted with the score at 5-0, with manager Scott Parker deciding to switch things up in a bid to change his side’s fortunes.
When asked what the mood in dressing room was like, the Scottish international told the Daily Echo: “Very low, obviously.
“A frustrating day at the office - more than that - but I mean, you come into the game hoping that you can frustrate them and get something out of it.
“Again, we conceded goals very early on which was kind of frustrating because against these good teams, especially away from home, it just lights a fire under them.
“We just couldn’t really get going at all.
“Nobody wants to be on the end of that no matter what team you are playing.
“We knew how good a side they are.
“There was a lot of talk about the kind of slow start the season they've had, but we tried to pay no attention to that because you know how good they are.
“They showed that today at times, played us off the pitch at times and again, like I said, you just kind of move on from it.
“I think from here, you just wipe that aside - it is what is. You don't want to be on the end of it but there's only one thing you do now - bounce back.
“The one good thing is that we’ve a game Wednesday to try and put things right.
“I'm sure tonight and tomorrow will be pretty tough to get over it mentally.
“Like I said, the best thing for us to do now is focus on Wednesday because that's when we can kickstart our season again.”
