BOSS Scott Parker admitted Cherries’ trio of defeats against Premier League big guns could “leave some scars” on his players.

Since their opening-day victory over Aston Villa at the start of the month, the Dorset club have conceded 16 goals in three league games in defeats to Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The 9-0 hammering at the hands of Jurgen Klopp’s Reds on Saturday was the joint biggest defeat in Premier League history.

And Parker, who has continually called for backing in the transfer market this summer, signalled the tough reality for his current group.

He said: “We’re learning, real, real harsh lessons and at times it's probably not fair to be honest with you.

“At times, it's probably not fair because the lessons you learn at this level, and I don't just talk about Liverpool or the three fixtures we've had because they've been the best teams in this division, but this division is ruthless.

“These players, that's why I feel for them a bit.

“They're learning and it can leave some scars at this moment in time, in terms of the experiences they're facing.”

Cherries have until Thursday, September 1 (11pm), to bring in any more fresh faces this summer.

Parker’s men also face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Vitality Stadium on Wednesday (7.30pm).
