VERWOOD boss Adie Arnold stressed the "points were more important than the performance" after his promotion chasing side's win over struggling Fleet Spurs.
Chris Lynch, Pat Yerby and Pete King were all on target for Town as they cruised into a 3-0 lead after 48 minutes.
But Verwood twice let Fleet back into the game at Potterne Park before sealing a vital victory with late strikes from Russell Dyer and Matt Newbury, who converted a penalty after King had been pushed inside the box.
Arnold said: "We didn't kill Fleet off, which is typical Verwood Town.
"We were always in control of the game but at 3-0 up rather than push on and put them out of it, we let them back at 3-1 and 4-2.
"It wasn't a bad performance, because we played well in patches, but we just couldn't get the game by the throat and put it out of sight, which is frustrating."
Verwood: Willis, Elysee, Martin Newbury, Lynch, Homer, Dyer, King, Faulkner (Murray 25), Yerby, Goodall (Giles 75), Matt Newbury. Unused sub: Fawcett.
