SWANAGE and Wareham booked their place in the final of the Dorset and Wiltshire Cup for the 13th consecutive season with a comfortable 16-0 win over Wootton Bassett on Saturday.
The weather conditions and the state of the pitch ensured that the game would never be a classic, but it couldn't prevent Swans building up a commanding first-half lead.
After the ever-reliable Phil Graves kicked two penalties in the opening 20 minutes, prop forward Olly Andrews powered his way over the line following a good catch-drive move from a line-out in the corner.
Wootton then began to apply some pressure on the visitors, but Swans scored their second try of the match six minutes before half time - flanker Chris Tomes crossing the line to make it 16-0 after a strong Swans scrum.
With the conditions deteriorating further in the second half, that's how it stayed until full-time with neither side able to assert themselves enough to add to the scoreline.
"We deserved to win the game," explained captain Phil Graves.
"It's disappointing that we weren't able to score any more points in the second half, but the weather played a big part in the match.
"We got the win which is the main thing."
