STAR striker Sam Vokes's latest international call-up has added to Cherries' mounting Easter crisis.

Vokes will miss Cherries' League One clash with Tranmere Rovers on Monday after being claimed by Wales for their European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Bosnia.

Cherries' leading goalscorer must report for international duty on Sunday when the Wales squad leaves for Bosnia to start preparing for Wednesday's Group 10 showdown in Sarajevo.

His absence further depletes an injury-ravaged Cherries squad, which will also be missing experienced defenders Neil Young and Warren Cummings over the Easter period.

"It's unfortunate for us, to say the least," said Cherries boss Bond. "We're a victim of Sam's success. It's going to be a difficult one, but there isn't too much we can do about it.

"I've had a chat with Brian Flynn (the Wales under-21 manager) but there is nothing they can do. The rules are that you can ask for a postponement if you've got three or more players on international duty.

"If we had a huge squad and lots of strikers to choose from, it might not be so bad. But losing one player out of a squad of about 10 fit and available players isn't ideal."

Vokes will be available for Cherries' trip to Gillingham on Saturday, although both Young and Cummings are set to be sidelined due to respective ankle and shin injuries.

Lee Bradbury, who has missed the past three games with a viral infection, could be in contention for the visit to Kent after returning to training on Monday, as could back injury victim Jo Tessem.

Bond added: "I'm hoping Lee will be available although he's lost the best part of a stone in weight. I also need to see how Jo is during the week.

"It's too early to start thinking about putting a team together because there are too many imponderables so we will have to see how everybody is towards the end of the week."

Bradbury could be a surprise choice to fill the right-back berth having stepped in during a recent behind-closed-doors friendly against Portsmouth, while Bond may turn to youth.

"If we need to play the youngsters, we will," said Bond, who had youth team quintet Joe Partington, Josh McQuoid, Matt Finlay, Billy Franks and Ryan Pryce on the bench against Yeovil on Saturday.

"I don't think some of them are ready yet but because we haven't got many bodies, opportunities maybe given to people before I believe they are ready for them. And like all these things, one or two may end up surprising you, with Sam Vokes being a case in point last season."

Bond described using Bradbury at right-back as a "possibility" and added: "We needed somebody there against Pompey so we had a look at Bradders. It gave us an opportunity to have a look at him and he's got the experience."
