LIONS captain Dan Cawley has vowed to make Bracknell pay for kick-starting Lions' woeful start to life in South West One this season.
Cawley's side host the second-placed Berkshire outfit at Chapel Gate on Saturday (3pm) following their Dorset and Wiltshire Cup semi-final win over Salisbury two weeks ago.
But despite Bracknell inflicting the opening defeat of a seven-match losing run at the start of campaign on David Dunn's side back in September, Cawley insisted his charges can overcome the damage done by that sequence of results and confirm their South West One status for another season.
The openside flanker said: "We definitely under-performed on that day and we feel as a team we owe them one.
"We didn't do ourselves justice, but I think we've come on so much as a team since then, we should really be able to push them tomorrow."
Lions' recovery after staring relegation back to South West Two East in the face before Christmas has been nothing short of astounding, with Dunn's side winning nine of their next 11 games to all but mathematically secure their safety.
But Cawley knows one more victory is required to take the heat off as Lions prepare to bring the curtain down on their maiden top-flight season.
He added: "We'll be going for the win. Those two extra points are vital really and we don't want it coming down to the last game of the season against Redingensians.
"We had a good performance against Salisbury so we're looking forward to this one, there's a good team spirit and everyone is on a high from that victory."
Cawley was also quick to pay homage to some of Lions' new faces, including young second-row Callum Forrest and hooker Chris Ulu.
"At the beginning of the season we had quite a few injuries and we didn't really have a settled side out, but now we do have a settled team it's far better that way. Chopping and changing isn't good for the team, but Callum and Iain Crombie have both done really well and Chris Ulu has made the hooker position his own."
Second-row Tim Seward is missing for tomorrow's clash, but otherwise Dunn has a full-strength squad to choose from.
Lions: (from) Wareham, Ulu, Manning, Kenny, Forrest, Hughes, Cawley, Kiely, Hardcastle, Chislett, Flynn, Payne, Gray, Dunkerley, Davies, Siaki, Crombie, Bruce.
